Cabinet reshuffle: Manmohan Singh meets Sonia for fifth time

New Delhi, July 11 (ANI): The Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh, met Congress President Sonia Gandhi for the fifth time on Monday to discuss the Cabinet reshuffle, tipped to be announced soon.
The meeting assumes importance as it comes in the wake of twin train tragedies - the derailment of Kalka Mail in Uttar Pradesh and the bombing of Guwahati-Puri Express in Assam.
After two major accidents, a priority will be to announce a new Railways Minister.
Mamata Banerjee who held the post till she was elected Chief Minister of West Bengal has made it clear that her party, the Trinamool Congress, expects to hold onto the portfolio.
Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee, Defence Minister AK Antony, Home Minister P Chidambaram and External Affairs Minister SM Krishna - are expected to retain their berths.
Corporate Affairs Minister Murli Deora has offered to quit and may be replaced by his son Milind Deora.
Mukherjee met DMK chief M Karunanidhi in Chennai on Saturday ahead of the proposed cabinet reshuffle and is reported to have offered two cabinet positions.
However, Karunanidhi is said to have told him that the DMK would take a decision on this at a later date.
